Overview

The Gokyo Valley Trek is one of the most beautiful treks in the Everest region, offering stunning views of the Himalayas without the crowds of the Everest Base Camp route. The trek leads to the famous Gokyo Lakes, a series of pristine turquoise lakes located high in the Khumbu region, and includes an ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) for one of the best panoramic views in Nepal.

This trek provides spectacular views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in the Himalayas. It is ideal for trekkers seeking natural beauty, high-altitude adventure, and cultural experiences in Sherpa villages.

Itinerary

Gokyo Valley Trek

14 Days • Itinerary Overview

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Meet our team and transfer to the hotel. Trek briefing and preparation.

Day 02

Fly to Lukla (2,860m) & Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

Early morning flight to Lukla. Begin trekking through Sherpa villages along the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding.

Day 03

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Cross suspension bridges and enter Sagarmatha National Park. A steady uphill climb brings you to Namche Bazaar.

Day 04

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Rest and acclimatization day. Short hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung village for altitude adjustment.

Day 05

Trek to Dole (4,110m)

Leave the main Everest trail and head toward the Gokyo Valley. Trek through forests and yak pastures with increasing mountain views.

Day 06

Trek to Machhermo (4,470m)

Gradual ascent through alpine terrain with views of Cho Oyu and surrounding peaks.

Day 07

Acclimatization Day in Machhermo (4,470m)

Rest and acclimatization day. Optional short hike to nearby ridges. Visit the HRA altitude information center.

Day 08

Trek to Gokyo (4,790m)

Trek along the edge of the Ngozumpa Glacier and pass the first and second Gokyo lakes before reaching Gokyo village beside the third lake.

Day 09

Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357m) & Return to Gokyo

Early morning climb to Gokyo Ri for breathtaking sunrise views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and the Gokyo Lakes.

Day 10

Trek Back to Machhermo (4,470m)

Descend through the Gokyo Valley with excellent views of glaciers and peaks.

Day 11

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Continue descending through Dole and forests back to Namche Bazaar.

Day 12

Trek to Lukla (2,860m)

Final trekking day, walking through Sherpa villages and crossing suspension bridges back to Lukla.

Day 13

Fly Back to Kathmandu (1,400m)

Morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.

Day 14

Final Departure

Today keep your passport and airline ticket handy our office staff will transfer you to the International airport for your flight back home or to the respective destination from this amazing country Nepal.
