Max Altitude

5,755 m

Duration

18 Days

Overview

The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Trek is a challenging and highly rewarding Himalayan journey that links the remote Rolwaling Valley with the iconic Everest (Khumbu) region via the high and demanding Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m). Known for its isolation, dramatic glaciers, and strong Tibetan Buddhist culture, the trek is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking a true expedition-style crossing rather than a classic teahouse route.

Starting from the quiet hills east of Kathmandu, the trail gradually enters the secluded Rolwaling Valley, passing traditional villages, ancient monasteries, and towering peaks such as Gaurishankar and Melungtse. Beyond the last settlements, the trek ventures into a rugged alpine environment of glacial lakes, icefalls, and moraines, culminating in the crossing of Tashi Lapcha Pass. The descent into the Khumbu region brings trekkers back to well-established trails, vibrant Sherpa culture, and famous destinations like Namche Bazaar, before concluding in Lukla. This trek offers a rare blend of wilderness, culture, and high-altitude adventure.
