Max Altitude

4,900 m (Lumding Tsho)

Duration

18 Days

Overview

The Lumding Trek is a remote and culturally rich trekking route in the Lower Solukhumbu (Everest) region, offering a quieter alternative to the classic Everest Base Camp trail. Starting from Taksindhu Pass, the trek gradually ascends through traditional Sherpa villages, dense rhododendron forests, and high alpine pastures to reach the sacred Dudhkunda Lake, one of the most important pilgrimage sites for both Buddhists and Hindus. From Dudhkunda, the trail continues to the secluded Lumding Valley and Lumding Tsho, an untouched high-altitude glacial lake surrounded by dramatic Himalayan peaks, including Numbur Himal.

This trek is known for its spiritual significance, pristine landscapes, and minimal crowd, making it ideal for trekkers seeking solitude and authentic mountain life. The route later descends toward Ringmo, Kharikhola, and Paiya, eventually joining the main Everest trail near Lukla. With moderate to challenging sections, high passes, and limited infrastructure in some areas, the Lumding Trek is best suited for trekkers with prior Himalayan experience who value exploration over commercial trekking routes.
