Mera Peak Climb (6,476 m / 21,247 ft) – Nepal

Join the Mera Peak Climb, the highest trekking peak in Nepal, located in the Hinku Valley within the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. The peak has three main summits: Mera South (6,065 m), Mera Central (6,461 m), and Mera North (6,476 m).

This expedition offers an excellent adventure for trekkers with moderate mountaineering experience. From the summit, climbers enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of five 8,000-meter peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. The itinerary is carefully planned with a gradual ascent and dedicated acclimatization days to ensure a safe and rewarding climb.

The expedition combines a week of trekking through stunning Himalayan landscapes with the summit attempt. Along the route, participants experience the region’s rich flora and fauna, Sherpa heritage through traditional lodges and villages, and Buddhist cultural sites, making Mera Peak a memorable and unique Himalayan adventure.

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to rest and recover from your journey. In the evening, a short briefing introduces the expedition schedule.

Day 02

Sightseeing and Preparation in Kathmandu (1,400m)

This day is reserved for sightseeing and expedition preparations. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Meanwhile, the team finalizes climbing permits, organizes logistics, and checks equipment.

Day 03

Fly to Lukla (2,845m) and Trek to Chutanga

A scenic early morning flight from Kathmandu brings you to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, the trek begins with a gradual ascent along the Dudh Koshi River, passing traditional Sherpa villages before reaching Chutanga. Overnight in Chutanga.

Day 04

Trek to Jatarwa La (Thuli Kharka)

The trail continues through pine and rhododendron forests and alpine pastures. Today’s hike leads to Jatarwa La or Thuli Kharka, a high grazing area used by local herders. The scenery includes wide valleys, distant Himalayan peaks, and small streams.

Day 05

Trek to Kote

The trek gradually ascends further into the high valleys. The trail passes yak pastures and isolated settlements. Overnight in Kote, where local teahouses provide basic amenities and mountain views.

Day 06

Trek to Thagnag

From Kote, the trail continues through alpine terrain with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Baruntse and Makalu. Thagnag, the highest permanent settlement before the Mera Peak Base Camp, offers a comfortable rest stop and acclimatization opportunity.

Day 07

Rest and Acclimatization in Thagnag

This rest day allows your body to adapt to altitude. Short hikes to nearby ridges provide excellent views of Mera Peak, Baruntse, and other surrounding mountains. The remainder of the day is spent hydrating, eating well, and preparing equipment for higher camps.

Day 08

Trek to Khare (5,000m)

The trek continues steeply through rocky terrain, crossing moraine fields and small glacial streams before reaching Khare, the main village and base camp for Mera Peak. Overnight in Khare, which serves as the staging point for the summit attempt.

Day 09

Rest and Acclimatization at Khare (5,000m)

An essential acclimatization day to prepare for the high-altitude climb. Climbers may hike to nearby ridges or small peaks to further adjust to the altitude. Guides review climbing techniques and safety procedures in preparation for the summit.

Day 10

Trek to Mera Peak High Camp (5,700m–5,900m)

Early in the morning, the team ascends to the High Camp near Mera Peak. The trek involves moderate snow and moraine slopes. Upon arrival, climbers rest and prepare for the summit attempt. Overnight at High Camp in tents.

Day 11

Mera Peak Summit (6,476m) and Return to Khare

An alpine start begins the summit attempt. The route includes snow slopes and small ridges, requiring crampons and ice axe techniques. From the summit, climbers enjoy panoramic views of Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and other Himalayan giants. After summiting, you descend back to Khare for rest and celebration.

Day 12

Trek from Khare to Kote or Thuli Kharka

The descent begins, retracing the route through high alpine terrain. The day ends in Kote or Thuli Kharka, where you spend the night before continuing to lower elevations.

Day 13

Trek from Thuli Kharka / Kote to Lukla (2,845m)

The trek continues through forests and river valleys back to Lukla. Upon arrival, the team enjoys a farewell dinner and overnight stay in Lukla.

Day 14

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400m)

A morning flight returns you to Kathmandu. After hotel transfer, the rest of the day is free for relaxation, sightseeing, or shopping.

Day 15

Free Day in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Leisure day to rest, explore the city, or do last-minute shopping. A farewell dinner may be organized in the evening.

Day 16

Final Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international flight, concluding the Mera Peak Expedition.
